K 914 coming out from Wanganui with train 562 crosses K 920 on train 501
(running late) at Aramoho during 1958. Although crossing of trains had
occurred at Aramoho for many years it was to stop when the East Town
marshelling Yard was opened in May 1969.

On the last day of operation over the Rimutaka Incline, 29 Oct 1955, a
Wairarapa railcar, Rm 7, arrives at Kaitoke on its way from Masterton to
Wellington. Six of these 49-seat railcars had been in service on this route
since Sep 1936. They were capable of climbing the famous 1 in 15 incline at
8 or 9 mph. Rm 5 (Mahuhu) is being restored by the NZRLS Wellington Branch
for preservation.
